Unless you’re paying close attention, you might have missed the flurry of announcements over the past few weeks about tokenized money market funds (TMMFs).
They are not a new concept, and over the past few years we’ve seen some of traditional finance’s biggest names wade into the space, as well as meaningful growth from crypto-native issuers. But recently the rhythm has picked up, and yet coverage is still thin, which is surprising given the asset’s significance in the intersection between tradfi and crypto.
Below, I’ll summarize some of the relevant news items I’ve seen, and then go deeper on why this matters.
