War tactics
Janet Yellen’s visit yesterday to Ukraine is more signalling than practical help, but the signalling here is a key part of how the rest of the war might play out. Following so soon after Biden’s visit, it sends a strong message of US support – these are not low-level officials there for a photo-op, these are arguably two of the most powerful people in the world travelling into a war zone that the US has no control over.
