Are you trying to edit your recordings? Otherwise I feel like a good mic and quiet room should be enough, no? Or is it the uploading and different platforms?

Would love to hear more about your process and pain-points (so I can learn as a wannabe content creator) :)

yes, it's the editing that's the problem... or rather, it's my inability to do a full read that is clean enough for my liking (fumbles, mispronunciations, every now and then a pause as I wonder "why did I write that?") plus my strong reluctance to share something I think is bad... Substack makes it super-easy to insert audio, you record and press done and there it is... but it doesn't let you edit, and I found myself giving up after something like eight takes... so, I've downloaded Audacity, which I thought would be easy to use... it's a great piece of software, pretty powerful, but I do need to do a few tutorials... I have SUCH respect for people who do this for a living! a combination of fiddly and creative

Totally understand your wanting to be perfect but, to push back on this, it's worth noting that A LOT of podcasts include fumbles, mispronunciations, verbal pollution, etc. I think your listeners might be ok with an almost conversational style, where you read out what you wrote but deviate somewhat and make it feel 'human' instead of perfectly recited :)

you know what, you are so right... thank you for this, helpful!! will press forward with the recording, and be more chill about it... now working on production speed, should be easier if I get comfortable with mistakes
